Ancient Egyptian dance
Apart from a number of depictions, little is known about ancient Egyptian dancing. It seems to have been uni-sex. Egyptian choreography appears to have been complex. Dances mimetic, expressive - similar to modern ballet or gymnastic, including splits, cartwheels, and back bends. For social banquets the dancing girls were often selected from the harem of the nobleman in whose house the party was held. |
